WHITNEY- Heyward Carl Bonds, 87, of Whitney, passed away on Friday, February 4, in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 6, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Chapel in Whitney, with Dr. Allan Lane officiating. Internment followed at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery. Mr. Bonds was born to Johnny Carl and Mattie (Hicks) Bonds on December 9, 1912. He was born and raised in Bosque County. He married Winifred "Fritz" Adams on November 22, 1937, in Corpus Christi. She preceded him in death on February 14, 1996. He married Alvoria Petty on May 7,1998 in Whitney. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Reda Janell Kirkpatrick, on February 8, 1993. He was a self-employed general contractor. Survivors include: his wife-Alvoria Bonds of Whitney; three children-Jonie Carol Lebkowsky and husband Maurice of Antlers, Oklahoma, Heyward Carl Bonds Jr., and wife Patricia Ann, of Garland, and Maycel Epps and husband Harold of Plano; two sisters-Laura Bell McCain of Corpus Christi, and Alice Bradford of Three Rivers; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
