Thomas Joseph Barta, 65, Jamestown, ND passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Essentia Hospital, Fargo, ND. Thomas was born August 5, 1951 to Louis and Regina (Torscher) Barta in Oakes, ND. Tom received Holy Communion at St. Raphael Catholic Church on June 14, 1959 and was confirmed on June 21, 1962 at Verona Catholic Church. He participated in baseball, track and basketball in high school and graduated from Verona High School on May 27, 1969. Tom joined the U.S. Army from 1974 to 1977 when he was honorably discharged. After the Army, he attended ND State School of Science and graduated on May 22, 1980 with a degree as a refrigerator and air conditioner tech. Tom was united in marriage to Kathy Buro on October 20, 2001 at the Zoar Lutheran Church. They moved to Jamestown in 2001. Tom enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, fishing and being with his family and good friends. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one sister, Virginia Barta; four nephews and one niece; several nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 25 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with a prayer service being held at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 26 at First Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown, ND. Burial will be in Hecla Cemetery, Hecla, South Dakota. Adapted from Eddy Funeral Home obituary
