Bio

Edwin (Ed) Allen Nehring, age 86, of Austin, Texas, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. He was born in Taylor, Texas on May 20, 1920, to Charles Frederick Nehring and Bertha Schonerstedt Nehring. Ed graduated from Taylor High School in May of 1938. He entered the U.S. Navy and Marine Corp in 1942, and was honorably discharged as a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class in 1946. He married Dorothy Anderson on April 18, 1948. Ed worked for Gulf Oil Corporation for 10 years. He retired as an independent contractor for Gulf Oil Corporation, in July, 1984. Ed was a lifelong member of St. Martins Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Mop and Hammer Club at St. Martins. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, his ranch and his cows, he was a very active supporter of the Manor 4H Club. He was a producer of Champion show pigs. Ed greatest love was spending time with his wife and family, and playing games such as Shoot-the- Moon, and dominoes. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Vivian Nehring; children, Bettye Jean and husband Bennie Moreland, Marilyn Irene Jennings, and Charles Allen and wife Lisa Nehring; brothers, John and wife Dorothy Nehring of New Braunfels and Leroy and wife Polly Nehring of Stamford; sisters, Lillie Wade of Austin, and Alice Kruger of Conroe; 9 grandchildren, Eric and wife Jennifer Moreland, Christy, Melinda, and Heath Moreland, Michelle and husband Jason Nettle, Jason, Brandon, and Stacy Nehring, Lacey Jennings; 8 great grandchildren, Kaylee Kyleburg, Jessica Nehring, Bryson Nettle, Logan Luckie, twin girls Brooklyn and Alyssa Nehring, and Garrett and Allie Moreland. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter and Bill Nehring, and by sister Annie Kruger. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. Craig Sommer officiating. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
