Bio
Husband of Ophelia Wood, father of Mabel and Bennett Wood. Member of Terry's Texas Rangers, 8th Texas Calvary, Company C (Confederate Army). Wounded during the Sunday afternoon encounter with the enemy near the boggy ravine at Shiloh, TN, know as the Battle at Shiloh, also called the Battle of Pittsburgh Landing. Walter Wood suffered bad wounds to face and shoulder, but survived and returned home.
