Bio

William Alfred Harty was born May 8, 1940 in Austin TX where he lived his entire life. As a boy he enjoyed swimming in Shoal Creek, hunting and working on cars. He graduated from McCallum High School in 1958. After graduation he served in the army from 1958-1965. After leaving the Army he worked for the City of Austin until he went to work for the Texas Highway Department where he worked until he retired with 30 years of service in 1994. He married his wife Sally Muesse Bommer in 1982. They lived happily in the Lake Travis area until his death. They were introduced by their high school friends Bobby and Ziana Boudria. He enjoyed: talking with his many friends on his ham radio, especially Al Emmons, (he was KA5KZM); building and flying model airplanes; hunting; working on anything mechanical or electronic; his dogs; and especially his boat and fishing his favorite past time. He is survived by his wife Sally Ann Harty; his son Billy Dwayne Harty and wife Janice; two Daughters Rhonda Cain and husband Ralph and Susan Burgmaier and husband Mike; Grandchildren Jeremy and Erin Burgmaier, Travis and Susan Cain, and Deanna Cain; numerous great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Beatrice Harty; in laws Walter and Nelda Muesse; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Karsten Kampe and his staff, Saint David's South Austin Medical Center staff, and Hospice Austin. A very special thanks to Louis and Cathy Weyand, and Kathleen Buchanan-Allen. There will be a grave side service for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice Austin 4107 Spicewood Springs Rd. Austin TX 78759.
