Bio
Bonita J. Gerdes, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2017. Bonita was born on September 11, 1941, in Sweetwater to J. Victor and Beulah (Rowe) Johnson. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She married Allen Rice on May 22, 1960, in Kearney; she married Art Gerdes on June 13, 1987. Bonita is survived by Sheryl (Mike) Overby, Rodney (Kim) Rice, Debra (John) Lilla, Charles (Toni) Rice; step-children, Jeff and Tim Gerdes; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Tessa and Rachel Overby, Dylan and Morgan Rice, Kelsea and Carson Lilla; step-grandchildren, Randy and Brandon Gerdes. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her three brothers, Hal, Vernon and Duane Johnson. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St., Lincoln. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, with lunch to follow. Internment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the People's City Mission in Lincoln or Serene Care Hospice in Omaha.
