FOWLER, Ill. -- Mr. Marvin G. "Muggs" Earnest, 73, of Fowler, died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2005) in Blessing Hospital. Born July 24, 1932, in Pinkstaff, Mr. Earnest was the son of Alfred G. and Elsie Stevenson Earnest. He married Joan Jansen on May 30, 1959, in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Earnest served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He loved to golf and fish and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Cardinals fan. He was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Earnest co-owned D and R Cabinet and Marble for many years until their closing. He then was the regional manager for Lanter Courier Service until his retirement in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Joan; three daughters, Belinda Hoener and her husband, Bill, Carol Johnson and her husband, Dennis, and Kathy Peters and her husband, Dennis, all of Quincy; a son, Kevin Earnest of Fowler; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly Sparrow and her husband, Michael, of Canton, Mo., Adam Drebes, Jamie Drebes, Jill Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Kristen Johnson, Eric Peters, Joshua Peters, Cory Peters and Hailey Peters, all of Quincy, and Rachel Earnest and Amanda Earnest, both of Waurika, Okla.; a great grandson, Riley Sparrow of Canton; three step grandchildren, Gabe Hoener and his wife, Kellie, Jonathan Hoener and Kara Hoener, all of Quincy; three step great grandchildren, Anna Hoener, Tristan Hoener and Blaise Hoener, all of Quincy; a brother, Eldon "Sonny" Earnest and his wife, Lynn, of Odessa, Texas; a sister, Dona Kellum and her husband, Gerald, of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Tom Jansen and his wife, Bev, of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Earnest was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arthur "Bob" Earnest and his wife, Betty; and his mother-in-law, Regina Jansen. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Bruce Rice. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, and until the time of services Monday in the funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Obituary contributed by Sue Whitaker
