Harold D. Klinginsmith, 84, of Kearney died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his residence. Memorial Mass services will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Joe Hannappel and Father Alex Borzych will officiate. Inurnment of Ashes will be at Kearney Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements. Harold was born January 30, 1933 to Frank and Bessie (Gebaur) Klinginsmith at their home in Valley County, Nebraska and attended North Loup High School. On February 1, 1951 he married Margaret Boro in Elyria, NE. They lived in Ord and he worked for Romans Motor Freight then was a meat cutter at Safeway Grocery Store. They moved to Minden in the 1950’s where he worked at Safeway then to Kearney in 1965 and he worked at Safeway and then Bob’s Super Store as a meat cutter until retiring. After retiring they moved to Harry Strunk Lake, north of Cambridge where they lived 13 years then moved to Arizona City, AZ then Loveland, CO until moving back to Kearney in 2006. Harold was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. He enjoyed camping, antique car collecting, tinkering in his garage and especially loved spending time with his family. Surviving relatives include his wife Margaret of Kearney; daughter, Kathy Steinhauser and husband Dan of Kearney and grandchildren, Laurie Lee and husband Doug and great grandchildren, Doug, Jr. and wife Kylie, Zach and Joe, Shannon and husband Arthur Epstein, Justin and wife Nicole Steinhauser and great grandchildren Isabella and Natalie; daughter, Sherry Klinginsmith of Minden, NE and grandchildren, Andrew Yendra and wife Kori and great grandchildren Max, Parker and Kyndel, Cody Yendra and wife Jennifer and great grandchildren Leah, Crew and Finn, Chelsea Oliver and husband Kelly and great grandchildren Charlie, and Olivia, Jon Yendra and wife Alison and great grandson Leo; son, Brad and wife Maureen of Loveland, CO and grandchildren Kara Fierstein and husband Eric and Shane Klinginsmith and fiancée Amy and great grandchild Scott; daughter, Angie Plambeck and husband Ron of Kearney and grandchildren, Heather and Lindsay; son, John Klinginsmith and wife Julie of Kearney and grandchildren Michael and wife Chelsea, Matthew and fiancée Liz and Molly. He is also survived by his brother, Lyle Klinginsmith and wife Ina and sister, Judith Weeks and husband Dan both of Grand Island, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be greatly missed by his family.
