THE BELOW WAS TAKEN FROM THE AKERS FUNERAL HOME WEB SITE, 5/2017 Wilma M. Gordon, 79, of Locust Drive, Everett, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at UPMC Bedford Memorial. She was born on May 23, 1937 in Clearville, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Harry B. and Clara (Morris) Mills. On December 29, 1954 in Cumberland, Maryland, she was united in marriage to Samuel S. Gordon by Rev. Wood. Along with her husband Sam she is survived by daughters Jackie married to Rick Cessna, Everett, PA and Kim married to Steve Conner, Everett, PA; grandchildren Michele married to Brent Kauffman; Amanda Moyer and Cody Leach; two great grandchildren Madeline and Colten Kauffman; step-grandchildren Derrick, Drew and Jared Conner; step great-granddaughter Rose Marie Conner. Wilma was preceded in death by siblings Virginia Howsare, Mildred Chamberlain, Blanche Means, Earl Mills and three infant siblings Alva, Ralph and Harry Jr. Mills. She was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School Class of 1955. Throughout the years Wilma was employed at Bedford Rural Electric, Bedford Gazette, R.S.V.P. and Raystown Ambulance serving as an office manager until her retirement in May of 1999. Wilma also served as a deputy coroner alongside her husband for twelve years. Mrs. Gordon was a member the First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, woodworking, scrapbooking, crafting, playing the guitar, singing and spending time with her dog “Pookie”. Friends and Family will be received at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 2-8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the church. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, 57 Providence Street, Everett, PA 15537 with Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Union Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Gordon to First Christian Church, 57 Providence Street, Everett, PA 15537.
