Bio

Jane Ann Sacher of Steamboat Springs departed this life May 11, 2017. Her husband Eric and youngest daughter Carrie were by her side. She had lived with cancer for over eight years. Jane is greatly missed by her husband Eric Sacher of Steamboat Springs; son, Mark Sacher of Flagstaff, AZ; daughters Suzanne Sacher (Mark) Longhurst of Temecula, CA, and Carrie (Tyler) Gibbs of Steamboat Springs; six grandchildren; two sisters, Linda (Steven) Clagett and Mary (Larry) Miller of Long Beach, CA and many more friends and family. They will miss their best friend for her beautiful smile, calming presence and wise guidance. She naturally loved unconditionally and it felt so rewarding to share time with her. She truly enjoyed life. Jane Ann Wiegert was born Oct. 3, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Harold and Vivian Wiegert. She was the eldest of three daughters. Her sweet parents’ strong faith in God was instilled in her early, and Jane found solace in this always. Jane's father Harold worked at REA Express, and this career moved the family to many cities in the West. At Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Jane met her husband Eric Sacher. Their first date was at Dick’s Drive-In, a 50’s hamburger shop still in business today. Jane lived with Eric’s family while she completed high school after her family moved to Salt Lake City. Jane and Eric married Sept. 6, 1958 in Murray, Utah. Eric worked in the computer industry from its inception, while Jane was a loving homemaker. She adored children, and was a terrific mother. Jane’s family has many fond memories of their early motorhome travels and later road trips to the family farm in Lake Park, MN. Jane and Eric settled in Dayton, Ohio and then moved to Escondido, CA and Phoenix. Jane worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital and later in finance at Household Finance Corp. As empty nesters, Eric and Jane moved to Sedona, AZ and worked together in their computer software business, Serendipity Systems. Jane created beautiful teddy bears as a hobby, enjoyed hiking in the gorgeous red rock country, and most of all loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. As avid skiers who arranged annual ski trips with their friends, they discovered Steamboat Springs and purchased a condo in 2000, making it their permanent home in 2004. Jane made enduring friendships volunteering in schools and churches such as co-writing the bulletin with friend Ellie in Sedona to guide the preschoolers at Community Bible Study in Steamboat Springs. She touched many lives with her nurturing spirit. She was so loved by her family. She will live on in our memories forever.
