GRAND ISLAND — Bruce Edward Fiala, 59, of Republican City died of pancreatic cancer Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma with Gary Janssen officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ainsworth Cemetery. Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma is in charge of the arrangements. He was born Oct. 26, 1957, in Ainsworth to Donald J. and Berniece (Duda) Fiala. On March 6, 1982, he married Amy Johnson in Ainsworth. They separated. Survivors include his fiancée, Rhonda Lawing of Republican City; sons, Ryan of Kearney, Chance of Fort Collins, Colo., and Grayson of Greeley, Colo.; mother, Berniece Fiala of Ainsworth; brothers, Bryan of Grand Island and Bradley of Ainsworth; sisters, Janice “Jan” Buoy of Bassett and Jeannie Fritz of Center; five grandchildren; stepchildren, Abby Knutson and Tara Lawing, both of Brighton, Colo., and David Lawing of Northglenn, Colo.; and five stepgrandchildren.
