In Memory of Arvid C. Beranek April 22, 1929 ~ April 22, 2017 Arvid C. Beranek, age 88 years, passed away on his birthday, Saturday, April 22, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born April 22, 1929 to Jerry and Isabel (Hermance) Beranek in Raymond, Nebraska. Arvid graduated from Raymond High School in 1947. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army as Corporal during the Korean War from February 1952 to January 1954. Arvid married Minerva Roebke on October 31, 1958, they had two children, Denise and Larry. He worked for CB&Q Burlington Route Burlington Northern as a Carman for 44 years. In October 2013 Arvid went on the Korean War Honor Flight to Washington D.C. His children were honored to escort him on this tour. Arvid was a member of VFW Post 3606, American Legion of Ceresco, Burlington Veterans, Burlington Campers, Burlington Northern Cornhusker Club and George Washington Lodge 250 (past member). Arvid is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Minerva; daughter, Denise and Steve Dolezal; son, Larry and Angie Beranek; grandchildren, Savannah and Tyler Groskurth, Nakita Dolezal, and Brandon Beranek; great-grandson; in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. Preceded in death by: parents; brothers, William (Bill) Beranek, Harold (Pete) Beranek, and John (Jack) Beranek. Services on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
