William Henry Husen, 97 of Grand Island, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society-Grand Island Village. Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 9 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rod Armon officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery following the service. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. William was born September 17, 1919 to Henry and Augusta (Marth) Husen at Grand Island. His family moved from Grand Island to Alda at a young age. He graduated from Alda High School in 1937. William joined the United States Army on July 18, 1941 and was Honorably Discharged on November 25, 1945. While serving he was stationed in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After he returned he united in marriage to Hilma "Tootie" Krieger on January 10, 1946 at Belleville, KS. They made their home in Grand Island and raised two children; Michael and Patricia. William was a Sheet Metal Worker throughout his life, working for Hehnke-Lohman Co. and then owning his own sheet metal business. Later in life he worked at the Grand Island Public Schools in maintenance. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Michael Husen of Fremont and Patricia and Duane Scheel of Grand Island; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Georgianne Husen-Tucker of Grand Island; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. William was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Albee; and a brother, Alfred Husen.
