Glen Dale Evans, age 81 of Broken Bow, died Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway. Funeral services will be Monday, May 8, 2017, at 2 p.m., in Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Minister Kathy Salts officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Glen was born Dec. 31, 1935, near Berwyn, to Robert and Mabel (Barrett) Evans. Glen attended school in the Cherryville Country School and then school in Broken Bow, and graduated from Ansley High School in 1953. Following High School Glen worked on many ranches in the Sand hills. In the late 1950s Glen attended Trade School in Milford, studying operating heavy machinery and repair. In the early 1960s, Glen joined the newly created Peace Corp, working two years in Tunisia, Africa. Glen followed that with six years in Togo, Africa helping the African people learn to operate and care for heavy machinery. Glen returned to Broken Bow, where he owned and operated the sanitation business in Broken Bow for many years. Glen sold the business to Sherman and Lou Porter who continued as S and L Sanitation. Glen worked at Adams Land and Cattle as a heavy machine operator until his retirement. Glen's health began to fail and he was a resident of Callaway Good Life Center at the time of his death. Glen is survived by three sisters, Roberta (Jim) Beck of Greeley, Helen (Norman) Ferguson of Broken Bow, and Judy Medina, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews.
