Born Conrad Lawrence Didierlaurent in the village of Mollau, Haut Rhin, France to Jean Didierlaurent (father) and Marie Anne Simon (Mother). Jean Didierlaurent was a textile factory weaver. Conrad was the father of 23 children. Emigrated to the United States from the Upper Thur Valley , Haut Rhin, Alsace-Lorraine, France to the Banks of Coleto Creek in 1860. First wife, Walbourg Bruetsch who he married in 1856 in the Catholic Church at Felleringen. Both Conrad and Walbourg were fabric workers in the textile factory. Conrad, Walbourg and their 4 sons left their home in the village of Felleringen for the port of Le Havre, near Paris: there they boarded an American vessel "Ship SS Perquot". The ship's Master's name was Davis. They sailed on October 6, 1860 and landed in the port of New Orleans on December 13, 1860. Smaller ships were taken from there round the coastline, Galveston, Port Lavaca and on to Indianola. Conrad and his family came up along the Guadalupe River and settled in an area called Twelve Mile Colletto, close to Meyersville. Second wife, Catherine Golly. He was a Private in the Confederate Army,The Coleto Guards,Home Guard, 29th Brigade under the command of Captain John Jacob Schiwitz from Aug 17, 1861 to 1865.
