Edgar Berry, 86, died Sunday, November 2, 2003, in Abilene. Funeral services will be at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Stan Allcorn and Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Edgar was born January 19, 1917, near Hodges in Jones County, Texas. His parents were Elva L. and Cassie (Sims) Berry who were longtime residents of the Hodges and Stith Communities. After graduation from Anson High School in 1936, he served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Edgar was a 30-year employee of Halliburton Co. He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and Master's Sunday School Class at the church. He was also a member of the Dart Baseball League and Anson Masonic Lodge 575. He was a Master Mason and 32nd Degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Annie Fern (Jones) Berry of Abilene, and many nephews and nieces including a special nephew, Robert Wayne Berry of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janet Lily, and a brother, A. L. Berry. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Obituary from Abilene Reporter-News.
