Norfolk Daily News (Norfolk, Nebraska) Mon, Apr 15, 1935 · Page 2 _______________________________________________________ Luther Bennett was born in Ashland County, Ohio, Jan. 24, 1853, and passed away Apr. 7, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska. While a boy, his parents moved from Ohio to Washington County, Iowa, where he grew up. On Dec. 31, 1879, he married Ida M. Snider. They had three sons and one daughter: Allen J., Earl J., Glenn S. and Elma. In 1902, he and his family moved from Iowa to a farm in Platte County, Nebraska where they were a vital part of the community. In 1919, they retired from farm life and moved into St. Edward to spend their sunset years in peace and quiet, yet many of those years were marred by pain and sorrow due to the loss of three children and Mr. Bennett's ill health. He is survived by his wife who continually ministered to his comfort. One son, Allen, remains, along with grandchildren (Mrs. Villabelle Baker of Denver, Mrs. Elma Young of North Bend, Ida Bennett of Omaha, Allen Bennett of Crete and Doris Bennett of St. Edward); two great-grandchildren; four half-brothers ((A. Braden of Macedonia, Iowa; George and Dan Braden of Carson, Iowa; Lee Braden of Waco, Nebr.) and one half-sister (Mrs. Mary McMillen of Council Bluffs, Ia.) His funeral was Wed. at 2:00, April 10 at the M. E. Church, though inclement weather kept many old-time neighbors from east of town from attending as roads were bad.
