***His wife Mary Henning Hohmann died in Canada and is buried there. ****** Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Saturday, 29 December 1928 Casper H. Hohmann, former well known resident of Merrick county, died at the home of his son, Henry Hohmann, 711 West Tenth street, at 8:15 a.m. Saturday. Cirrhosis of the liver, from which he had suffered during the past six months, complicated with a recent attack of influenza, was given as the cause of death. He had been seriously ill only for the past few weeks. Born in Westphalia, Germany, on January 27, 1847, he was aged 81 years, 11 months and 2 days. In 1876, he was united in marriage with Anna Marie Henning. They came to America in 1885, locating on a farm in Merrick county, six miles east of this city, on which they resided until 1909, when they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada. In March, 1924, his wife passed away and the following year, Mr. Hohmann returned to Grand Island from Canada, having since made his home with his son, Henry. Surviving are two sons, Henry, of Grand Island, William, of Luseland, Sask., Can.; seven daughters, Mrs. William Wilhelmi, of Chapman, Mrs. Henry Becker, of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Wm. Oterhold and Mrs. A. H. Wilson, of Luseland, Sask., Can.; Mrs. Louise Justice and Mrs. Alvina Perry, of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Frank Letchet, of Couer a'Alene, Idaho, as also twenty-eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, residing in Luseland, Sask., Can., and a brother and sister in Germany. One daughter passed away in infancy.
