"Marlene M. Rezac, 81, of Fremont, NE died Monday, April 17, 2017 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. Marlene was born July 18, 1935 in Valparaiso, NE to James and Helen (Petrzelka) Hurt. She was a graduate of Assumption Catholic High School at Dwight, NE. Marlene taught in country schools prior to her marriage. She married Rodney R. Rezac on May 8, 1956 in Dwight, NE. The couple lived near Valparaiso until moving to rural Cedar Bluffs in 1960. Rodney died July 19, 2000. Marlene has been a resident of Fremont for the past several years. She was employed at the former Pendleton Woolen Mills in Fremont for 25 years. She also worked at the cafeteria at Midland College, and at Wal-Mart and Hy-Vee Food Store, all in Fremont, and sold Stanley Home Products for many years. Marlene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cedar Bluffs and was church organist for over 50 years. She was a member of PCCW, Catholic Daughters and Right to Life. Marlene was an accomplished baker and earned the title of Kolache Queen. She enjoyed all holidays and spending time with her grandchildren. Marlene is survived by daughters, Cindi (Bill) Pierce of Elkhorn, NE, Mickie Sell and (special friend, Steve Garver) of Fremont and Peggy (Mike) Christensen of Waconia, MN; son, Rodney R. Rezac of Germany; son-in-law, Ron(Angie)Gross of Fremont; brother, Greg Hurt of Wahoo, NE; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Bruce) Rezac of Brainard, NE and Mary Kay Hurt of Millard, NE; 9 grandchildren, Chris (Kim), Cort (Meg), Cody (Deanna), Kandice (Rex), Jayme, Riley (Morgan), Carly, Tyler and Annie; and thought of as a grandchild, Sam Roumph; 3 step grandchildren, Asia (Travis), Bryce and Jayme (Andrea); 6 great grandchildren, Marissa, Kelsey, Whitney, Cole, Ava and Chase.; 5 step great grandchildren, Braxton, Jackson, Madison, Joah and Oliver. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; and daughters, Vicki Rezac Reeg and Susan Kay Gross. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs, NE. Father Leo Seiker, Father Keith Rezac and Father Matthew Vandewalle will officiate. Visitation on Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM with Rosary said at 7 PM all at church. Visitation on Friday 1 hour prior to service. Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near Cedar Bluffs. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs in charge of arrangements." Moser Memorial Chapel, Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska.
