Betty Atkinson April 06, 1930 - April 13, 2017 Betty Atkinson, 87, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Childress with Rev. Lou Ellerbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. She was born April 6, 1930 in Childress to Commodor Dewey Overbey and Jeffie Arthula Hopkins. She played the organ for 71 years for King Memorial Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church. She retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 25 years. She fondly loved her dogs Molly and Sadie and enjoyed every summer with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by per parents and her husband, Ronald Atkinson in 2003. Survivors include daughters Sherry Lynn Robertson and husband Robert of Lubbock and Tammie Jo Dreary and husband James of Round Rock; grandchildren Kellen Ray McKelvey and wife Dervis and Zoe of Dallas and Dusty Lee Dreary and wife Jenna of Round Rock; great grandchild Felix James Dreary of Round Rock and sister-in-law Debbie Atkinson Chapman of Quanah.
