LITTLE SIOUX, Iowa | Joanne Kay Hanks, 75, of Alliance, Neb., formerly of Little Sioux, died Friday, April 7, 2017, at Regional Health Hospital in Rapid City, S.D. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Burns, officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. Joanne Kay was born September 29, 1941 in River Sioux, Iowa the daughter of John and Norma (Withem) Edmonds. She married Louis "Red" Hanks on October 10, 1964 in Onawa, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Larry, Debra, and Curtis. Louis "Red" died February 2, 2004. Joanne was a homemaker who loved spending time with all of her family. After marriage and while raising their family they lived in Onawa, Missouri Valley, Little Sioux, and she currently resided in Alliance, Nebraska. She enjoyed music and flowers. Survivors include her children, Larry (Yvonne) Hanks of Calhan, Colorado, Debra Hanks of Alliance, Nebraska, and Curtis Hanks of Alliance, Nebraska; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Becky Pape of Bennington, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Norma (Withem) Edmonds; her husband, Louis "Red" Hanks; and two sisters, Georgia and Connie.
