Bio

" Elmer was born June 24, 1926 in Windthorst to the late Ben T. Schroeder and Sophia Humpert Schroeder. He graduated from Windthorst High School as Valedictorian in 1944. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He and Teresa Pennartz were married April 7, 1948 in Windthorst. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2005. Elmer was a dairyman and farmer throughout his life and retired in 1998. He played baseball on the town team for thirteen years. In 1958, he started bowling which he enjoyed going every week. Elmer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir since 1942. He also was a member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the VFW of Scotland and Windthorst Post 2676. His favorite pastime was bowling and fishing."
