http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~neplatte/vitals/vitals1968.html The Daily Telegram, October 31, 1968 BRANIGAN--Genevieve Branigan funeral rites here Saturday morning Funeral rites will be held here Saturday for Miss Genevieve Iola Branigan, 62, a former Colmbus resident who died Wednesday morning in a North Platte hospital. She had been ill 10 days. The Rev. Regis Watts will officiate at the 10:30 a. a.m. [sic] requiem Mass in St. Bonaventure Catholic church and at graveside rites in St. Bonaventure cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home, where the body will lie in state after 1 p.m. that day. Miss Branigan was born in Columbus, June 22, 1905, residing here until 1958. She was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone company for 39 years. After leaving Columbus she lived in Fremont until 1966, when she moved to North Platte to make her home with her brother Gerald. Daughter of the late John and Mary Ella Haney Branigan, she was graduated from St. Francis academy in Columbus. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and secretary-treasurer of R.Y. Hyde Council Yost chapter. In North Platte she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic church. Surviving are two brothers, John Charles Branigan of Omaha and Gerald Branigan of North Platte, nine newphews and nieces. One brother, Marvin M. preeded her in death.
