Elzner, Daniel Joseph A memorial service for Daniel Joseph Elzner was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview. Mr. Elzner was born March 20, 1952 in Kaufman to Edwin and Mary Smid Elzner, and passed away March 11, 2017 in Longview. Daniel was known throughout Texas and far beyond as a premier lead guitar player. He made hundreds of friends over the years due to his music. He toured throughout Europe and Canada with a country show band in the early ‘80s, and he played with countless people in every honky tonk and club in East Texas. He was also known for his particular brand of humor. Daniel was truly, as he put it, "A Legend in His Spare Time." Most of all he was a man who loved his family. He was preceded in death by one sibling, Eddie Elzner, and his parents, Edwin Elzner and Mary Smid Elzner. He is survived by his wife, Kathi Elzner; children, Layla Milligan and husband Greg, Geoff Elzner; JoDe Rickard and husband Bobby, Laurel Lozano and husband Christian, and Salem Novak and husband Chris; grandchildren, Alora Lozano, Elijah Lozano, Sona Lozano, Mason Milligan, Kaileigh Rickard, Corbin Novak, and Stark Novak; and a new Novak baby, Colson Daniel, born on Daniel's birthday. He is also survived by his siblings, John Ed Elzner, Larry Elzner and Linda Elzner Cruz; as well as many nieces and nephews. OBITUARY KAUFMAN HERALD KAUFMAN, TX
