Ethel A Rood, 77, 306 Daisyfield Road, died at 11 am Friday, Oct 7, 1983, in her home after a long illness. Born Feb 10, 1906, in Byron, daughter of Sherman and Emma Lawshe Taylor. Lived in Rockford since 1954, coming from Byron. Married to Clifford LeRoy Rood in Byron, Nov 10, 1926. Taught school in rural Byron in her younger years. She and her husband farmed many years in Byron-Rockford-Winnebago area. Member of First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago. Graduate of Byron High School class of 1924. Survivors include her husband, Clifford; a son, Todd, Winnebago; five daughters, Mabel and Linda, both at home, Mrs Clarence (Betsy) Menge, Rockford, Mrs Jim (Mary) Tally, South Beloit, and Mrs Charlotte Smith, Escondido, Calif; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Taylor, Beloit, Wis, and Clarence Taylor, Byron; a sister Mrs May Bassett, Crosby, Minn, several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Services at 1 pm Monday, Oct 10, in First Presbyterian Church of Winnebago, with the Rev William E Butler, pastor, officiating.
