Bio

Mary Wilson Whitley, 92, passed on to the Lord Jesus, January 29, 2007 in Tulsa. Born November 19, 1914 in Claremore, OK the daughter of Homer D. and Edna Wilson. Mary, and the late Robert W. Whitley, were married November 7, 1947, in New Orleans. The two children of that loving bond survive; Jan and Bill. Also, Surviving are her cherished daughter-in-law, Joann and grandsons, Jake and Scott Whitley all of Tulsa. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, living in Tulsa these last sixty-five years. Her sense of humor and courage, reflected the presence of the Lord's armor in victory over the cancer that recently attacked. While residing these last two years at Town Village, Tulsa, the love of the staff and many new friends gave her great joy. She was an only child, growing up in the era of the oil exploration days in Kansas, and Oklahoma. After attending Kansas University in the late thirties, she worked as a draftsman for the Corps of Engineers during WWII. In 1946 she was the manager of the sterling silver department at Brown-Dunkin department store. Her brief fame came in 1955, when she won a new Buick from the newly formed KTUL television station in Muskogee. There will be a private family service where she will be buried next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Gideon's International.
