Bio
Helena/Helene "Helen" Olinger was born in Luxembourg on June 13, 1881 to Michel and Marguerite (Hilger) Olinger. She married Jacques "Jacob" Kies on November 7, 1904 in Luxembourg. She was the mother of Anna Kies Warengo (b. 1908 - d. 1987) and Madeleine/Madelynn Kies Faltemier (b. 1913 - d. 1992). Helen and her daughters arrived in America on January 19, 1915. Her husband arrived in America the previous year on April 28, 1914. The family eventually settled in Monona County, Iowa. ******************************************************** Thursday, July 2, 1936 Onawa (Iowa) Sentinel Funeral Services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the St. John's Catholic Church here for Mrs. Helen Kies, who died Friday in St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City with Father P. P. Gearen officiating; the Barnard Funeral Home in charge arrangements. Mrs. Kies was born June 13, 1881 in Nospelt, Luxembourg, Germany and has resided in the United States with her husband Jacob since 1914.
