William was born in Kennebunkport Maine to William and Sarah Bickford Goodwin. He married Hepzibah Poland on Sept 9th, 1827, in Waterbury Vermont. He may have drowned crossing frozen lake with one of his sons taking a shortcut home from a wood cutting session. He had at least 8 children. He may have died in Essex County NY. He is Listed in the 1840 census in Westport, Essex County NY.
