Bio

Walleah G. Tennyson Hogue - 1916-2017 Walleah Georgia (Oakes) Tennyson Hogue, age 100, died peacefully on March 9, 2017 in her residence at Paramount Senior Care in Pasadena, TX. She was born in Muskogee, OK on May 4, 1916, the only child of George Oakes and Myrtle Glass. She was the granddaughter of John Glass who as a child traveled the Cherokee Trail of Tears in the late 1830s. Walleah graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Latin. She taught Latin in Houston ISD at Lamar and Lee High Schools. She was a member of the Houston, Texas, and National Assoc. of Retired Teacher. She was a long time member of the Bellaire Methodist Church and more recently the Sunset Methodist Church in Pasadena. Walleah was married to Horace W. Tennyson for 33 years. On August 2, 2003 she married Joe C. Hogue and lived in Pasadena. She was preceded in death by Horace Tennyson in 1991 and Joe Hogue in 2015. Walleah is survived by her step-children and their families: Paul & Bernadette Hogue of Pasadena; Sandy Hogue of North Carolina; Connie and Tom Mitchell of Fort Worth. A graveside service will be conducted at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1101 Antoine, Houston on Tuesday March 14th at 10 AM. Published in Houston Chronicle on Mar. 12, 2017
