ORD - Donald E. Kasper, 74, of Ord died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ord Memorial Chapel. Military honors will be provided by Ord VFW Post 7029 and American Legion Post 38. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Kasper was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Valley County to Ed and Hattie (Vasicek) Kasper. He was preceded in death by a son, Adam Kasper. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Elaine Kasper; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeff and Robin of Fayetteville, N.C., Steve and Tricia of Evans, Colo., Jon, Joe and Jason Kasper, all of Aurora, Colo.; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Bill and Kim Weibel and David and Leann Weibel; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Sherri and Scott Blaty. Additional survivors include four grandsons, Jimmy, Robbie, Blake and Brandon; four granddaughters, Katie, Michelle, Ariana and Jennifer; and two great-grandchildren, Keelan and Ethan. The family moved into Ord, purchasing a home on 12th Street. Don attended Olean grade school and graduated from Ord High School in 1950. He also attended the University of Oklahoma. After graduating, Don then joined the United States Air Force. He did his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Don served his country proudly in such places as Lakenheath Air Force Base in England, Saudi Arabia and Libya. On Jan. 1, 1970, Don retired from a long and prestigious career in the Air Force. He had served 20 years for his country. After retiring from the Air Force, he became a long-distance truck driver, retiring for good in 1993. In 1994, he and his wife, Elaine, returned to Ord. Don was also preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Hattie; a grandson, Justin Kasper; and a granddaughter, Honesty Lutz. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kasper family.
