Mrs. Rose Sirmon Buried Monday (From the Onlooker, Foley AL, 24 Mar 1955, Thur – includes some editing) Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Anna Jane Sirmon, 69 of Elsanor, were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church. A life long resident of Baldwin County, Mrs. Sirmon died Sunday at 4:45 at the Baptist Hospital at Pensacola. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Clergyman was Rev. Seth Murphy. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery. Arrangements were by Higgins Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers were the 18 members of Mrs. Sirmon’s Sunday School class. Active pallbearers were George Heidleburg, Charlie Heidleburg, A. Riendeau, Dennis Harrison, Cecil Davis, and Fred Duckesneau. Mrs. Sirmon is survived by her husband James H. Sirmon, Robertsdale. She was the widow of two previous husbands: John A Phillips with whom she has two surviving daughters, Mrs. Etta Woodard and Mrs. Mertie Hastings, both of Foley and Elijah Lewis Dyess with whom she has two surviving sons, Bill and Carl Dyess, both of Elsanor and a surviving daughter, Mrs. Esther Riendeau. Mrs. Sirmon is also survived by four brothers, George, John, and Tom Roberson, all of Rosinton, Robert Roberson of Robertsdale, one sister, Mrs. Mary Patten of Robertsdale 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and other relatives.
