Edmond T. "Ed" McDaniel, 85, of Onawa, formerly of Little Sioux, died Thursday, Aug. 20, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa. Edmond Thomas McDaniel, son of William James and Mary Sophia (Chromy) McDaniel, was born Oct. 25, 1929, at Morse Bluff, Neb. Ed's family lived in several communities during his younger years, then they moved to Little Sioux where he graduated high school with the class of 1947. After high school, he moved and worked in Alaska until his marriage. On June 4, 1950, Ed was united in marriage to Esta Louise Bean in Little Sioux. To this union, one daughter, Julie, was born. Ed worked for General Motors Corporation, and with his job, had lived in Omaha, Neb., Denver, Colo., Dallas, Texas, and Colorado Springs, Colo. After retiring from G.M., Ed and Esta moved back to Little Sioux, and he helped on the farm until retiring at age 82. In recent years, they made their home at Premier Estates in Onawa. Ed enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, gardening, and farming. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katie McIntosh and Margaret Baldwin; and one brother, William McDaniel. He is survived by his wife, Esta, of Onawa; daughter, Julie Pekarek, and husband, Terry, of Little Sioux; two grandchildren, Angie Wahle and husband, Blu, of Council Bluffs and Thomas Pekarek and wife, Kandi, of Little Sioux; three great-grandchildren, Axel and Barret Wahle and Cooper Pekarek; two sisters, Addie Furne and Mary Hanks, both of Missouri Valley; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. ---------------- On June 4, 1950, Esta was united in marriage to Edmond Thomas McDaniel at the Methodist Church in Little Sioux. After their marriage, they moved to Omaha and Esta worked various secretarial jobs until they moved to Denver, CO. While living in Denver, their daughter, Julie, was born and Esta worked for a real estate company. With Edmond's job, they moved to Dallas, TX and then Colorado Springs. After semi-retiring, they moved back to the Little Sioux area to be closer to family. In 2011, they moved to Premier Estates in Onawa and Edmond passed away on August 20, 2015.
