Charlie was the 4th of nine children born to James Anderson Tolle & Tennessee State (Wilson) Tolle. On 09 Aug 1896, she wed Benjamin P Gobbell in Wayne County, Tennessee. Ben & Charlie had a son, Earlie James Gobbell, on 24 July 1899. This marriage ended, and Charlie married Pate Henry Gower and Charlie bore him 7 children: Gladys Pauline, Herman, Thelma, Vada, Jess Willard, Anna Christine and Iva D Gower.
