Bonham Daily Favorite Bonham, Texas Monday, 05 Dec 1932, Page One George W. Baker Dies at His Home at 1 O'clock p. m. George W. Baker, mention of whose illness has been made from time to time in the Favorite, died at his residence at 1 p.m. today. The funeral will be held at the home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with interment at Willow Wild cemetery. A more extended notice of Mr. Baker, and his life, will be published in The Favorite at a later date. Bonham Daily Favorite Bonham, Texas Wednesday, 07 Dec 1932, Page Four Many Attend Funeral Services of G. W. Baker Tuesday A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral for G. W. Baker who died Monday afternoon which were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence, West 9th street, Rev. S. R. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist church, had charge. Interment was at Willow Wild Cemetery. There were many floral offerings. Deceased who would have been 79 years old his next birthday was born in Tennessee and came to Fannin county over 50 years ago, and made this community his home until his death. For many years he was engaged in farming and owned a fine farm a few miles from Bonham. He was a good man and a fine citizen in every respect, and a member of the Baptist church for many years. He was a patient sufferer for many weeks. Besides his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Lacy of Kiowa, Okla., Mrs. Lewis Blankenship of Atoka, Okla., and Mrs. Herbert Cockerell, of Reden, Okla., and one son, G. W. Baker, Jr., of Ector. ~George Washington Baker, son of David B. Baker and Mary Ann "Polly" (Barnett) Baker, and grandson of James Crittenden Baker and Nancy Jane (Estes) Baker, and Thomas Barnett and Elizabeth (Davis) Barnett. Husband of Maranda Ellen (Smith) Baker, married Jul. 3, 1870 in Monroe Co., Tennessee. Together they had five children. 1.Mary Elizabeth Baker, born Sep. 18, 1871~married D. Gillas Lacey 2.George Washington "Doc" Baker, Jr., born Aug. 26, 1873 in Arkansas~married Stella Bryan 3.Nola Iona Baker, born Jul. 7, 1880~married Herbert B. Cockrill 4.Lois Belle Baker, born Oct. 10, 1883~married Louis Blankenship 5.Amanda May Baker, born Jan. 7, 1894 and died Feb. 27, 1894. She is buried at Dover Cemetery, Fannin Co., Texas (No guarantee of correct info.)
