Wilma E. Kavan, 85 years, of Fremont, Nebraska formerly of North Bend, Nebraska died Friday, February 17, 2017 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. Wilma was born November 7, 1931 on the family farm in Saunders County, Nebraska to Czech immigrants, Emanuel “Eman” and Emma (Sinkule) Grebenick. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Linwood High School in 1949. Wilma married Richard J. Kavan on June 21, 1949 at North Bend. Richard preceded her in death on March 4, 1962. Together they established their business, Souvenir Isle, in North Bend in 1951. After his death she continued to operate the business on her own until 1972. She then worked several years at Blevins Popcorn Company. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend and St. Anne’s Altar Society. She is survived by her daughters, Pat and husband, Larry Ruzicka of North Bend and Cindy and husband, Bruce Brown of Smithville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Hailey (Kevin) Kraus, Melinn (Justin) Young, Tyler (Brittany) Ruzicka, Todd Ruzicka, Molly, Joe, and Nathan Brown; five great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bernard (Sharon) Kavan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Kavan; and brother, Al Grebenick. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. The Rev. Father Keith Rezac will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM with family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in North Bend.
