George was born in the Haw Ridge area of Coffee County, Alabama, a younger son of Benjamin C. Dubose and Elizabeth A. Headley. On Christmas Eve of 1893, George married Angeline Headley in Chilton County, Alabama. Angeline, a cousin, was 14 at the time and 16 years his junior. By 1900, they had moved to Carbon County, Utah, where George was engaged as a coal miner. They were still in Carbon County in 1910 where George is shown as a farmer in Wellington. By 1914, George had moved to Box Elder County to the city of Brigham where he died of angina, having outlived 7 of his 9 children. Angeline later married William A. Colvell in 1917 and had three children. She died in 1960.
