Gerald Allen VanEarwage Of Des Moines, Iowa Gerald VanEarwage, age 79, passed away on February 6, 2017. He was born on May 31, 1937 in Moline, Illinois. Gerald proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for Principal Financial for 25 years, Keck Parking as a groundskeeper and parking attendant for 10 years. Gerald enjoyed fishing, car shows, and doing puzzle books. He is survived by his loving companion, Betty Beenken and her daughter, Katelyn; his children, Jeanne, Rex (Addie), Jerry (Marti), Kathy (Rick), Marsha (Troy), and Mary (Tony); grandchildren, April, Charlie, Anjii, Jennifer, Ethan, Jody, JD, Josh, Bradley, and David; and brothers, James-William, Phillip, Steven, and Mike. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Verbal VanEarwage; daughter, Margaret; and sisters, Joyce, Joann, and Edith. Funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017 Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial to follow at 2:30 p.m., at Rock Island National Cemetery, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to the family in loving memory of Gerald.
