As Dorothy's ashes sailed toward the rising sun, they formed the shape of 3 angels.
Eldest daughter, and one of eight children, of Nelson David Moree and Neula Claude Beasley Moree, Dorothy was a graduate of Warwick High School in Worth County. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Robert Spear Tison, on June 6, 1941, and gave birth to her only child, Robert David Tison, on October 8, 1942. She wrote in her journal that "Robby was a beautiful baby, perfect in every way." In 1971, upon discovering her husband's affair with a co-worker, she gave him another chance, but finally found it necessary, with the help and support of her son, to file for a divorce which was granted in 1972. She remained single for the rest of her life, and said she would never trust another man, with the sole exception of her only son who never failed her. On the morning of April 21, 2005, Dorothy suffered a massive stroke while her son was holding her in his arms. Her entire left side was paralyzed, and her son had to leave her on the floor until he could summon help through 911. She was taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Emory Adventist Hospital in Smyrna where her condition was evaluated. Later that evening, she was admitted to intensive care where it was discovered that she could not swallow without aspirating food into her lungs, nor could she speak any longer. Her son was told that she would not recover, and she was transferred to a regular hospital room, pending transfer to Portsbridge Hospice in DeKalb County near Perimeter Mall. On Tuesday afternoon, she was admitted to Room 3 at the hospice where she went to Glory to be with Jesus on Saturday, the morning of May 21st. Her son, Robert, was constantly by her side, and friends and relatives came to visit her often. As a life-long Christian, she looked forward to seeing Jesus, her Lord and Master, and indicated that she saw angels in her room before she passed away. She was a wonderful mother, a faithful wife, and a loyal friend. May she rest in peace.
