"Georgiann Jedlicka, 72, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, at Columbus Care and Rehabilitation Center. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Visitation continue from 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at the North Chapel. Burial will be in Schuyler Cemetery. Georgiann was born March 4, 1944, on a farm near Schuyler to Adolph and Georgia (Nemec) Buresh. Georgiann’s family moved to a farm near North Bend where she attended high school. She met Frank. D. Jedlicka at a dance in Schuyler and the two were married on July 23, 1960. They lived in North Bend, where they had three children. They moved their family to Schuyler in 1969. Georgiann was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. She was Brownie troop leader for her daughter, Suzanne. She and Frank were avid dancers, they attended many dances throughout the years. They were on the televised "Big Joe Polka Show." Georgiann enjoyed playing cards on Saturday nights with friends and was in a canasta card club. She liked going to the casinos. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons Nicholas and Nathan Stevenson and taking trips with her husband to Colorado to see her son’s family. Georgiann had many jobs, first she worked at the Schuyler nursing home. She then opened a day care in her home where she helped raise many children. During the day care years she and a neighbor took classes to get their GED in which she was very proud. She closed her day care and went on to make pizzas at Casey’s in Schuyler. Then she worked at the eye doctor’s office in Schuyler. Georgiann’s final job was as a kindergarten paraeducator at Schuyler Community Schools. She retired from there in August 2008. She moved to Prairie Village Retirement Center in Columbus in September 2010. She later had more health issues and moved to Columbus Care and Rehabilitation Center in April 2014. Georgiann is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Dan) Stevenson, Nicholas and Nathan, of Columbus; son-in-law, David Pokorny of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Renee (Scott) Jedlicka, Taylore, of Loveland, Colorado; sister, Maxine (Leonard) Babcock of Racine, Minnesota; sister, Jo Ann (Ross) Rohde of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank D. Jedlicka (June 29, 2006), daughter, Shelley Pokorny (April 11, 2013); son, Scott Jedlicka (Nov. 17, 2016); brothers, Dennis Buresh, Adolph Buresh and Larry Buresh; and sisters, Linda Porter and Cyndi Buresh."
