Thanks to contributor #46770673;Darrel D. Watson, 70, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island. Private family burial services will be at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Watson will be cremated, and there will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Watson was born on Aug. 9, 1936, at Grand Island to Floyd and Bessie (Baker) Watson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ladora Watson, in 1977, and by an infant child. Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Vic Watson, and Chad and Heather Watson, all of Grand Island. Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Vince Watson of Sutton and Chelsey and Haley Watson of Grand Island; a special brother-in-law, Albert Grotzky of Grand Island; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Bob Chohon of Grand Island; his mother-in-law, Betty Lockard of Lancaster, Calif.; and additional sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mr. Watson received his education in Grand Island, while he was being raised by his mother and stepfather, Bessie and Donald Everson. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1954 to 1957. He married Ladora Patchen in 1958 in Grand Island. Mr. Watson worked for a number of years at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. He was then employed by Gifford Hill for 14 years. He then drove a truck for Sunrise Express for 18 years, before retiring in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Bessie and Donald Everson, and a sister, Beverly Grotzky.
