Alice Mae Blake was born in Giddings, Texas to Tom and Susie Bell King on June 25, 1910. She was married to Ardell Blake for 66 years and is buried beside him at Hollywood Cemetery in Houston, Texas. She and Ardell raised two daughters; Alice Marie Arbing and Catheryn Adell Blake Waldrep. She was a seamstress who worked out of her home and created beautiful clothing for many Houston residents including wedding gowns, dance and skating costumes as well as ordinary clothing. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an inspiration to many and loved by all who knew her. Alice Mae is survived by her two daughters - Alyce Marie Arbing and Catheryn Adell Waldrep and son-in-law Marlin Waldrep. Four grandchildren Larry Ardell Arbing, Jack H. Arbing Jr., Rebecca Denise Waldrep Curtis and Alisha Kristine Waldrep. Six great-grandchildren Christopher Arbing, Kimberly Arbing, Travis Arbing, Daryl Arbing, Joshua Curtis and Zachary Curtis as well as 5 great great-grandchildren.
