Funeral services for Allen "Beechie" Gilchrest, 73, of Rusk, are secheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Rusk with the Revs. Don Copeland, Jason Hoffman and James Goforth officiating. Burial will follow at Jarratt Cemetery in Jackson under direction of Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Mr. Gilchrest passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, in Rusk. Mr. Gilchrest was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Fort Worth to Allen Virgil Gilchrest and Elizabeth Dette Beech Gilchrest. He served in the Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was a school administrator. He was a member of the Rusk Lions Club, Rusk Volunteer Fire Department, Cherokee County Sheriff's Reserve and Rusk Quarterback Club. Mr. Gilchrest was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife, Sue of Rusk; son, Allen P. Gilchrest of Rusk; daughter, Lissa and Casey Warren of Corsicana; brother, Norman "Buddy" Gilchrest and Tresa of Waco; grandchildren, Amanda, Wyatt and Lane; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be James Campbell, Larry Sinclair, Larry Phifer, Sonny Hassell, Clyde Cain, Steve Mock and Brian Townsend. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the funeral home in Jacksonville.
