Bio
Peggy Vanzura, age 87, of West, passed away early Friday morning, January 13, 2017 at West Rest Haven in West. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Closner Cemetery near West, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Peggy was born January 20, 1929 near West, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Clements) Heitmiller. She attended the old Ross School and was a 1945 graduate of West High School, and completed 4-C Business College in Waco. On October 10, 1949 she was united in marriage to Walter Vanzura in West. Walter preceded her in death on December 10, 1990. Peggy worked for McLennan County in the Vocational School, a training school for veterans and Baylor University. She also had worked for James Connally Air Force Base Headquarters, where she was chosen "Secretary of the Year", and the VA Regional Office in Waco with the Loan Guaranty Division and the Office of District Counsel before retiring in 1986. After retiring, Peggy devoted herself to caring for her parents and others in need. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Peggy is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, K.K. Heitmiller; and a nephew, Dale Heitmiller. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Closner Cemetery Association.
