George Shirley, Jr., age 79 of Winnsboro, passed away on Monday, January 9th, 2017 in Winnsboro. He was born on June 3rd, 1937 in Wood County to the late George Shirley, Sr. and Julia Shirley. He retired after 20 years of service from the United States Navy and was preceded in death by parents; wife, Esther Shirley and siblings, Josie M. Lindsey, Daniel H. Shirley, Lena B. Huggins, Bronzie L. Dixon and George D. Shirley. Mr. Shirley is survived by, son, George Augustus Shirley, III and wife Tanaka of Irving; daughter, Tammy Lynn Shirley of Dallas; sisters, Faye Sharp of Houston and Frankie Gaitlin of Dallas; two grandchild, Nathan Waldon and Aubria Scott; four great grandchildren, Kyler, Peyton, Caden and Natalie. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13th, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro 816 W. Broadway Winnsboro, TX 75494 at 10:00 am with Gary Huggings conducting, interment will follow at Perryville Cemetery in Winnsboro, with U.S. Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 6977 Main, Houston, TX 77030 or the Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219.
