Bio
Yvonne was born on Jan. 1, 1949, to John Henry and Aletha Bessie (McConnell) McBride in Ainsworth, Neb. She graduated from McCook High School in 1967. She then attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Neb., earning her Bachelors in Biology in 1971 and then her Masters in Biology in 1987. Yvonne worked as a program specialist for the State of Nebraska in the Department of Environmental Quality for 22 years, retiring in 2014. She was a board member for Upper Big Blue Nebraska Natural Resource District (NRD) for 25 years. In her free time, Yvonne enjoyed puzzles, being in the Staplehurst Womens Club, and family. Yvonne passed away on Dec. 7, 2016, in Lincoln at the age of 67 years. She is survived by her son, William (Amanda) Austin-Mafilika, Lincoln; daughters, Diana Wulf, Staplehurst, Neb., Debra Austin, Alexandria, Va., Kari Austin, Lincoln, andd Cloe Austin, Staplehurst, Neb.; brothers, Dale (Denise) McBride, Layton, Utah, Gary McBride, Exeter, Neb.; stepmother, Elva McBride, Exeter; grandchildren, Kevin Austin, Cody Cudmore, Liam Austin-Mafilika, and Nolan Austin-Mafilika. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Aletha McBride; husband, Tim Austin; and sister, Mina Ree McBride. Private family service, no viewing or visitation.
