KUBALA, MARTHA A. "Granny", aged 91, passed away in Austin, TX on Dec. 2, 2002, she was born in Central, TX on March 29, 1911 to August and Frances Gallia. She is survived by her 4 children, Fred Kubala and wife Peggy of Sumter, SC, Dan Kubala and wife Martha of Lakeway, TX, Jeanette Faulk and husband Joe of Weatherford, TX, and Ernestine Clay and husband James of Lakeway, TX; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Knezek; 2 brothers, Alois Gallia and August Gallia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ben Kubala and grandson, Charles Kubala. Martha was a Catholic Daughter of Court Madonna of 30 years, a member of K.J.Z.T for over 50 years and she volunteered for the Ladies of Charity of Dallas for more than 20 years. Martha was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Dallas for many years before becoming a member of St. Marks Catholic Church in Plano. At the time of her death she was a member of Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, TX. Everyone who met "Granny" will remember her as a warm, friendly and caring person-working at her Catholic charities and social groups, baking bread and kolaches for large gatherings, driving and living alone until she was 91, and proud of her Czech heritage. Although she was a farm girl who had only an 8th grade education, she loved to learn, read, and travel and she encouraged her children and grandchildren in their educational pursuits and their many accomplishments. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 from 6-9 P.M. at the Funeral Home with the Rosary at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Marks Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at 3 P.M. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
