ORD — Blanche E. Williams, 87, of Ord passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at the Valley View Senior Village in Ord. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Blanche Emma was born Feb. 23, 1929, to Stanislaus and Stepanka (Krejcir) Rutar in Sherman County. She was raised in Ord and received her education at Ord High School and later graduated from Grand Island Business College. On Nov. 5, 1949, Blanche was united in marriage to Raymond C. Williams at Grand Island. The couple made their first home in Grand Island, where Blanche worked at Fairacres Dairy. They moved to Loup City and owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store until moving to Ord. While in Ord, the couple purchased the Ord Hatchery and Blanche also worked for Zabloudil Photography and Marshall Photography. They spent three years in Winchester, Va. During that time Blanche worked at Capitol Records. In 1971 the couple returned to Grand Island and Blanche worked at Chief Industries until her retirement. From 1987 until 1989, Ray and Blanche wintered in Florida, and in 1989 they settled in Ord. Mr. Williams passed away on July 26, 2007. Since September 2015, Blanche had made her home at Grandview Living Center. Blanche was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She served on the Valley County Senior Center Board, where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She also did crosswords and word scrambles, and was a bowler. Blanche and Raymond traveled extensively and enjoyed square dancing and attending their grandchildren’s activities. Her family was her pride and joy. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Pat Waldmann of Comstock; a son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Roxy Williams of Sherman Lake; two granddaughters and their husbands, Kimberly and Nathan Flessner of Ord and Candy and A.J. Augustyn of Loup City; and six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alex and Kaitlyn Flessner, and Sami, Gracie and Drew Augustyn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; a sister, Lillian Krepel; and three brothers, Stanley, Otto and Laddie Rutar.
