Bernice Hunt, 87, of Afton, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the Afton Care Center in Afton. Bernice Lurene Hunt, daughter of Ada May (Gibbens) and James F. Grim, was born March 12, 1918, in Long Creek Township in Decator County IA. She attended country school in Comstock, Neb. On September 28, 1935 Bernice married Estie Fred Niedt in Comstock, Neb. They lived in the Comstock, Neb. and Kellerton, Ia. areas, Estie later passed away. On July 20, 1956 Bernice married Bert Emmett Curry in Savannah, Mo., where they later settled in the Creston area. Bert later passed away in May of 1962. In Madison County on April 18, 1964 Bernice married John Alson Hunt. They lived in Creston for a short time before moving to a small acreage near Arispe. Bernice was a caring person, and loved her family very much. She was a good cook and her family liked her noodles, French toast, and fried chicken that she made. She also did beautiful embroidery work. John passed away on May 27, 1981. Soon there after, Bernice moved to Afton where she entered the Afton Care Center. Survivors include a daughter Coleen Briner (husband Earl) of Tingley; a son Gary Niedt (wife Violet) of Geneseo, Ill.; two grandchildren Cindy Petty and Lyndon Curry and one great-granddaughter Kimberly. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two sons Eldon Niedt and Ricky Curry; two sisters and four brothers.
