Bio

Mrs. James D. Garnick Cora Belle Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Stewart, was born in Ord, Nebr., Oct. 18, 1887, and died at a hospital in Boulder, Colo., Wednesday night, Nov. 10, at the age of 50 years and 23 days. Her early life was spent at the farm home in Valley county. In 1909 she graduated from the Ord high school, and taught school in the county for three years. Her marriage to James D. Garnick occurred Nov. 6, 1912. They made their home on a farm south of Ord until September, 1934 when they moved to Boulder, Colo. Mrs. Garnick's death was the first in a family of 11 children, all of whom reached maturity. All but one brother, Enos, were present for the services. Her mother died six years ago. She is survived by her husband, James D. Garnick of Boulder, Colo., her father William J. Stewart of Ord, and by four brothers and six sisters. They are, Enos N. Stewart of Riverside, Calif., William Ray Stewart of Ord, Faye A. Stewart of Ord, Donald A. Stewart of California, Mrs. Ora Dickason of Denver, a twin sister, Alta M. Stewart, Estelle M. Stewart, Mrs. Hazel M. Meese, and Aloa Stewart, all of Ord and Mrs. Ruth Stewart Grady of Kearney; also a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held from Sowl's chapel Sunday afternoon at 3:00 conducted by Rev. Mearl C. Smith of the Ord Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Ord cemetery.
