Bio

A memorial service for Jimbob Bates, 39, of Belton, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Mr. Bates died Dec. 16, 2016, in Belton. He was born April 29, 1977, in Temple, to the late Robert E. and Mary (Latham) Bates. He graduated from Ellison High School in 1996 and attended Central Texas College. He was a devout employee of his family's business, Bates Nissan, until the time of his passing. Despite living a humble life, Jimbob truly was an amazing and awesome person. Jimbob loved football and participated in multiple fantasy football leagues. He could talk for hours about the sport. He was an avid swimmer. Anyone who knew him knew how proud he was of his state-of-the-art pool. Jimbob was always ready for a heartfelt discussion or a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit. He was a spiritual man, and previously was a member of Killeen and Belton Church of Christ. Above all else, Jimbob was a man who deeply cared for his family and loved spending time with them. Jimbob truly was a kind and considerate person. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all those who knew him. Survivors include his sister, Sherri Singley; brother-in-law, Tim Singley of Bulverde; nephew, Travis Singley of Austin; and niece, Shelbi Ann Singley of Savannah, Ga. Jimbob is also survived by his Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Gailya Bates of Belton, Uncle Glenn and Aunt Sandy Latham of Lake Travis and Aunt Faye Horton of Gatesville. While this enumeration covers some of those Jimbob leaves behind, it is assuredly not an exhaustive list of all those who he touched in life and who will be pained by his absence.
